I had done some conventional shots, and when I was moving the strobe light to a new position I noticed him continuing on a painting.
He use's this magnifying glass, to get down to the fine details as he build's up the thin layers of oil paint.
It takes from six to twelve weeks for him to finish a single painting.
I then thought hey would it work if I shot you with your tools of the trade.

I compared the medium format negs to the Digital d2x files, and well it's safe to say the film kicks the digital files ass and then some. And the D2x is meant to be cough cough Nikons flagship digital camera.
I'll leave it at that, I don't want to go on a rant and piss off all those digi shooters
Great picture! Really nicely setup and composed. There is so much character and interest in that face. Really nice work!

Really love this shot.. Looks like Leonardo da Vinci .. Both phisically and metaphorically... Excellent portrait!

Well with the amount of money I dropped on a Leica, I think it will be a while before I get a H39. Although a friend of miner has just got a h39 test one, with a swings and tilts lens. It will be interesting to see the files.
Man, you compressed the file way too much, I hate to see all those pixelations. Negscan or printscan? Must be sweet to see this as a real print. Nice tones.
A collection of the most beautiful and amazing square photographs I found among my favourites. Please have a look and give these artists the attention they deserve!
